We don’t appreciate what we have until we lose it; this collection tries to reflect this idea by creating objects that reflect simplicity in form and function, in a complex material. By going back to our productive origins, the Mon collection is born. It is a set made up of three pieces: a pitcher and two glasses of different sizes, representing the orographic diversity that exists in the Sumidero Canyon in Chiapas, Mexico. This canyon is unique by its natural richness, covered by different colors and textures, and accompanied by the water body that goes all the way through the canyon. Every piece has an interior cone, mimicking that even though we don’t see the tectonic plates that created all these bodies, they are in constant movement: as the liquid poured in the objects move from one to another.

Material experimentation was a key element in the design process. During the development of the project, four types of ceramics were combined to create new tones and textures: amphora, red clay, terracotta and refractory clay. As a result, the textures and tones created resembled the diversity of mountains that exist, and their tonalities. Mon intends to create an experience when using the objects, as each one of the pieces has a unique texture, created through the combination of different ceramic pastes. The collection is composed of one pitcher and two glasses of different sizes that can be used depending on the user’s needs.
