What moves us? What stops us? What do we connect with? Who do we leave behind? Under these questions, the Roka collection was born: a series of luminaires designed to create a unique luminous effect through a natural and singular materiality. Roka draws its inspiration from the man-made rock sculptures found in nature – quiet interventions shaped only by rocks, water, and patience – that defy gravity and logic. These precarious formations, constantly adapting to their surroundings, reflect the essence of Roka: each piece is unique and unrepeatable, rooted in movement and transformation.
Roka centers on the harmony and balance between elements, forming compositions that transport the viewer to another dimension through the ethereal glow of onyx. This stone, with its distinct and unrepeatable patterns formed over time, becomes the heart of each piece. The forms in the collection are abstract interpretations of rock morphology, designed by connecting midpoints of rectangles to generate shapes that feel coherent with both space and time.
The collection is composed of three typologies (floor, table, and ceiling lamps), each one carefully designed and crafted to highlight the natural beauty of its materials. Every lamp is the result of meticulous material selection and thoughtful design, enhancing the way light interacts with form to create a warm, meditative presence.
Roka was designed for Galería Mexicana de Diseño, the first Mexican design gallery and And Jacob, a design brand focused on the design and manufacturing of home goods.
